i thought enjolras’ death in the movie was a little overdramatic.
UNLIKE EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE MOVIE/SHOW RIGHT???
LES MIS IS FAMOUS FOR BEING SUBTLE YEAH
NOW GO AWAY OR I SHALL TAUNT YOU A SECOND TIME
i always laugh when valjean says, “you say this man denies it all and gives no sign of understanding or repentance?” it’s like, no! he never said the man couldn’t understand. where are you getting that from!?
well i bet it didn’t come from javert saying “well of course he now denies it, you’d expect that of a con, but he couldn’t run forever, no not even jean valjean”
b/c that would just be RIDICULOUS
the only complaint i ever had about cosette and marius was how it seemed like she completely disregarded how traumatized he was by the deaths of his friends in “every day”. however, in the movie when they added her being upset about valjean leaving her and marius trying to comfort her, that one small addition makes them feel like a balanced couple. him doing the same thing to her makes it seem like cosette wasn’t so much in the wrong by trying to make him forget.
…………………….you know that everyday is about how cosette spends months by marius’ side while he recovers from the trauma of the barricade???? it’s about her comforting him and keeping with him even though he’s at his lowest point. the addition of the suddenly reprise did balance out the relationship in a way, but not the end you’re saying. now marius was the one comforting cosette as she had been doing for months on end, selflessly because she loved him and knew he needed her love and support, and she promised to be there with him through it all as he did later when their situations were reversed.
i’ve watched this movie with a bunch of ten year olds and they understood that???!! how do people even
i just got into the fandom, and i can’t believe people aren’t talking more about rosalind james. her éponine may not be the best, but her voice is breathtaking.
IKR I THOUGHT SHE WAS WONDERFUL i keep trying to bring her up and i get dumped off the bus every time i do/it’s generally ignored but YEAH
